Language arts adjectives lesson plan for grade 2

 Assessment: Observation

Introduction (15 minutes)

  • Present a slideshow and review adjectives and introduce the five senses (touch, smell, hear, feel, see).
  • The presentation aims to help students use adjectives that describe more that what they see.
  • Following the presentation, explain the adjective game.
  1. Separate kids into groups.
  2. show a picture on the smart board.
  3. Teams will work together to come up with as many adjectives as they can that describe the image.
  4. Then take turns to share all adjectives that have been written down on the dry erase boards. 
  5. Teams will get one point for every adjective that describes the picture.
Lesson (20 minutes)
  • Play the adjective game.
Extension/wrap-up (5-10 minutes)
  • Review the images and go over the additional adjectives that could have been used to describe the images.

Review of second year practicum

Throughout my second year practicum I learnt a lot regarding my teaching style and many tips and tricks. I was lucky enough to have the AT I had, someone who was open to helping me grow and allowed me to try new things. We have had many discussions in my previous education classes that have had an affect on how I think about teaching. I learnt about creating positive relationships with student and encouraging them to develop a growth mindset. I will never forget how much my students taught me about how to be a great teacher. The most important thing I learnt all semester was the value of having strong student-teacher relationships.
