Introducing/reviewing adjectives grade 2

Language arts adjectives for grade 2:

Assessment: Observation
  • Formative: Observation, work samples
  • Summative: projects
Purpose: check for understanding, guided practice, independent practice.

Introduction (15 minutes)

  • Present a slideshow and review adjectives
  • The presentation shoudl go over how adjectives are used and where they should be palced. Explain handout.
  • Students will choose an animal to draw a picture of and answer the questions:
  1. What does my animal look like? 
  2. what does my animal feel like?
  3. what are 3 words that best describe my animal?

Lesson (20 minutes)
  • Students will complete the worksheet. 
Extension/wrap-up (5-10 minutes)
  • Make sure students understand how to use adjectives. As a wrap-up you can point to different objects in the classroom and choose a student to describe it for the rest of the class.

English language arts competencies:

·       Competency 4: To use language to communicate and learn (p.99)
o   Making sense of experiences that occur through multiple mediums, ex: reading, talking, watching…
o   Using language to communicate information to peers and educators through writing.

o   Experimenting with words that are appropriate for the task ex: The extensive use of adjectives.
